Yuzu Switch Emulator for PC Updated to Run Animal Crossing: New Horizons

The yuzu Switch emulator team has officially updated the software to run Animal Crossing: New Horizons on PC. The update also cuts the emulator’s memory usage in half, allowing things to run a little smoother for Switch players on PC. Apparently fans of the Animal Crossing series can expect to see minor bugs when they try to play it on PC but it’s still something for people struggling to find a Nintendo Switch right now. Animal Crossing: New Horizons is exclusive to the Nintendo Switch and it’s available right now, with Bunny Day recently taking place and Earth Day on the Horizon.

“We hope you enjoy playing Animal Crossing: New Horizons in yuzu, and please let us know how it works for you”, said the yuzu Switch emulator team in a recent post. “Expect there to be minor bugs – but hopefully these do not hinder gameplay too much. We’re working actively on fixing these issues, so expect improvements in the coming days in yuzu Early Access and mainline builds soon thereafter!” We don’t encourage people to emulate the Switch under normal circumstances but with shortages around the world due to a lack of supply, we don’t blame anyone for feeling they need to play Animal Crossing right now.

To play Animal Crossing: New Horizons, PC gamers will have to update the yuzu Switch emulator to the newest version which was released last week. The game must also be downloaded and updated to a newer version as the launch version apparently won’t suffice. A mod is required to get beyond an initial crash on boot and some basic formatting will be necessary to optimize the Animal Crossing PC experience. While the Nintendo Switch is still the best platform to play Animal Crossing: New Horizons on, this is an option for people with competent PC’s who don’t mind doing some work to play it.
